Tourism week in Seychelles this year will honour past players of the Seychelles’ tourism industry. The event, to be held in September, has called for names of individuals who have made a mark in the tourism sector of Seychelles since the start of the islands’ tourism industry.
The committee working on activities to be organized for this year’s Tourism Day has made this call during their first meeting this week.
Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St. Ange chaired the meeting.
He stressed on the need to acknowledge individuals ‘who have who have dedicated their lives in making our tourism industry what it is today.’
The committee is seeking names and photos of these individuals, logos or names of the hotels, and other places in the tourism sector where they worked or owned.
Members of the tourism trade urged Seychelles government to honor past players of tourism industry as they believe that there is a need to not just express words of thanks to these individuals, but to also have a place where they will be honored and remembered.
Activities to be held on 2015 World Tourism Day were also discussed during the meeting.
This day, which will be celebrated on September 27, is held annually under a different theme to bring more awareness on the vitality of tourism and its benefits.
