This report is scheduled to be released in April.
And, it also contains forecasts for the international visitor arrivals to as many as 39 destinations within this region for 2017 to 2021. PATA prefers coming up the forecasts to visitor arrivals to tourists. This is done with an aim to take into account the many near-border flows into the region that have an important economic impact.
However, every destination based in the Asia Pacific region is not included in this forecast since there are certain data restrictions or even timing issues.
Having said that, the destinations covered by the official PATA forecasts comprise about 98% of the total inbound foreign arrivals into Asia Pacific locales, as has been reported by PATA.
The Strategic Intelligence Centre (SIC) of PATA has been closely working with the forecasting unit of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University ((HKPU) for developing the forecasts with an aim to make way for reliability and accuracy of data.
The year-on-year statistics indicate that as per the forecasts of 2016, the current estimates state that the different destinations covered in the forecast report would have more than 595 million foreign inbound visitor arrivals.
And, this would mark an annual growth of 3.4% on the results of 2015.
Also, there would be an annual volume increase of over 19.6 million extra foreign arrivals.
