The Deputy Director of Tourism, Sales, Donnie Dawson, who is based in Florida, will act as tourism director during the interim.
Paul Pennicook, who returned to the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) in July 2014, was given the permission to lead and oversee the promotion of Jamaica’s tourist industry. His responsibility was to make sure the optimum visitor arrivals and increase Jamaica’s share in the marketplace.
During his work period, Paul Pennicook gave the attention in modernizing the operation and to uprise the tourism in Jamaica to a next level by generating the industry opportunity.
The operations of the board are in deepening the partnership with industry players.
The strong relationships of Paul with the tourism industry leaders of America, Europe and Asia gave a momentum to the development of Jamaica. It is important in ensuring that the destination remained at the forefront of the travel industry.
He served the Board of Tourism previously in a similar role between 2003 and 2006.
The Chairman of the Jamaica Tourism Board, John Lynch expressed his appreciation to Pennicook and thanked him for his service.
His contribution with the Jamaica Tourism Board and the people of Jamaica will remember which enhances the tourism and the economy. The present Board of Director wished him well in his future endeavours.
The Director of Tourism vacancy has been advertised and a search committee is in place to find a suitable candidate to fill the post.
