Penton’s Aviation Week Network , in partnership with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), announced today that nominations are open for the 2016 20 Twenties Awards. The awards recognize top science, technology, engineering, and math students for their academic and research acumen, but also the contributions they are already making to the broader community.
“These three traits —knowledge, inquiry and contribution to society —are those things that aerospace and defense leaders have found to be most important in solving some of society’s toughest problems,” says Greg Hamilton, president of Aviation Week Network. “We are seeking nominations of women and men in their 20s who are students in university master’s or bachelor’s degree programs from around the globe who best exemplify these traits.”
AIAA, the largest aerospace professional society in the world, joined with Aviation Week this year to sponsor the 20 Twenties Program, which will culminate with a March 3, 2016 awards event in Washington, DC, as part of Aviation Week’s 100th anniversary celebration. “AIAA and Aviation Week Network recognize the importance of advancing capabilities in aerospace as well as bringing young people into our industry. This program supports both of these objectives,” said Jim Albaugh, AIAA president.
