Situated in the heart of Dunning, Glebe House has been awarded both a 5-star Quality Assurance award and a Taste Our Best accreditation by the national tourism organisation.
Owners, Sara and Dave Wood, were presented with their awards by VisitScotland Chief Executive, Malcolm Roughead following the first of a series of listening tours taking place across the country. The meetings are designed to give tourism organisations access to and opportunities to speak directly with VisitScotland’s most senior representative.
Originally built in 1860, Glebe House enjoyed a complete refurbishment in 2014 blending its classic design with contemporary comfort and offering guests the choice of a stay in one of two boutique suites.
VisitScotland star awards are indicators of quality and provide reassurance to guests. They help set expectation levels so that a visitor knows what to expect. VisitScotland offers support to businesses to ensure they meet and exceed the high standards expected by guests
As well as impressing VisitScotland with their first-class service and warm welcome, owners Sara and David Wood were also commended for their commitment to showcasing local produce, earning a Taste Our Best accreditation for using both Scottish food and drink and homegrown products in their cooking.
Launched in 2013, Taste Our Best is a joint initiative between VisitScotland and the Scottish Government The scheme is designed to recognise businesses that not only offer a quality culinary experience, but include and promote local produce on their menus, to give consumers choice.
Sara Wood, owner of Glebe House, said: “We are really delighted to receive the 5 star VisitScotland Quality Assurance and Taste Our Best awards. We’ve always wanted Glebe House to provide the highest possible hospitality for guests and we worked hard since the outset to achieve that. The 5 star award is a real accolade and will be an excellent quality benchmark for prospective guests, whilst we will constantly strive to improve. We’re also really proud to have achieved the Taste Our Best award as we certainly take our food seriously!”
