“Over the recent three years, Peru has hosted world-class events, which have contributed to putting Peru on the spotlight,” Finance Minister Alonso Segura told reporters at a press conference.
In this sense, he recalled Lima organized the Conference of the Parties (COP20) in 2014 and the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2015.
Peru will invest US$20 million in APEC events.
“Of course, the benefits will be vast in terms of revenue generated by business tourism and by those, who will make the most of their stay by exploring our country,” the government official affirmed.
The APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting will take place on November 17-19, 2016.
In 2016 Peru holds the bloc’s Presidency for the second time following a previous experience that dates back to 2008.
