The Philippines and Chinese tour operators along with the investors are on discussions to initiate greater number of direct chartered flights from China to Philippine provinces in an attempt to attract higher number of Chinese tourists, as confirmed by the officials on Tuesday.
Philippine Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo explained that Chinese investors have shown their interest to spend money behind new hotels and resorts construction in the Philippines, with special emphasis in Puerto Princesa in Palawan province.
Teo was in Chengdu from Sept. 10 to 14, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province, to participate in a seminar of the 22nd United Nations World Tourism Organization, an agency accountable for the endorsement of responsible and sustainable tourism at the same time. Teo while staying in Chengdu explained that she had a talk with the Chinese tour operators to advance the endorsement to the already flourishing tourism routes between China and the Philippines.
Teo also mentioned that the Philippine and Chinese tour operators are chalking out to launch new chartered flights between Changsha and Boracay, one of the top tourist destinations of Philippines and Chongqing, an important city in Southwest China.
Furthermore, Teo explained that investors have equally showed their interest to expand hotels and resorts in Puerto Princesa. Chinese investors lately have made searches around Puetro Princesa for potential development, as she said.
“With improved diplomatic relations between Manila and Beijing, we are assured of a more eloquent business and people-to-people exchanges between our two nations,” Teo said in a statement last week.
