The Philippines Department of Tourism (DOT) is set to organize a grant of P100 million for the training of tourism front liners and other tourism programs in various tourism destinations throughout the country. The grant will be for training tourism front liners – tour guides, tricycle and shuttle van drivers, restaurant servers, boatmen, hotel staff and other workers related to tourism – who would be the first to meet tourists, guests and visitors in their respective localities.
Such training will help front liners provide first-rate services to tourists, guests and visitors and this training is very important for them to know how to appropriately welcome an individual during their holiday.
The Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo is closely monitoring her field tourism officers for the implementation of the Community-Based Sustainable Tourism (CBST) sites in the different parts of the country. Teo along with the UNWTO Secretary General Dr. Taleb Rifai visited some tourist sites in the country to personally witness and experience how residents manage and control their CBST sites.
