The tourism opportunity in Philippines is rising higher and there is a jump in the arrival of the Indian business tourists to Philippines,coming up as the major business meeting destination for Indian business travellers.
The number of leisure travel visitors from India to Philippines is steadily going up, which is likely to cross the 1-lakh mark this year.
The efforts are being made to persuade more visitors from select tier-II cities for incentive meetings, weddings and leisure travel.
Raymund Glen A. Agustin, Chief Tourism Operations Officer, Department of Tourism, Philippines, said, that there is a growth of around 25% in the current year of tourism and it’s expected that this will grow like double-digit and it will cross 1 lakh marks.
Philippines sees that the business travellers from all the major metros particularly Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata; but now we are looking to tap the tier-II cities of Hyderabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Lucknow, where there is immense potential.
Daks Fernandez Gonzales, Secretary-General, Pacific Asia Travel Association, Philippines said that India currently ranks 12th in the largely tourist visits to the Philippines.
It is expecting that this to go up by some notches.
The visa process has been simplified and there is a special provision for those who already have a valid visa of the US, UK and Japan, and a few other countries.
In the connectivity issue, there is no direct connectivity from Indian states, but the tourism department and the aviation ministry of Philipines are working with Thai, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Jet Airways and PAL to make sure better connectivity to India tourists. This will further boost the numbers of both business tourists and the leisure tourists.
