Although the missiles did not injure any tourist or local, but one of the fishing company’s shop got hit.
It was estimated by the local authorities that a fuel tanker was the intended target of the missiles. The tanker was placed near the fishing shop.
Right after the incident occurred, almost 15 km from Antalya, special forces and ambulance services were sent to the scene to handle any kind of emergency.
The real motive behind the attack could not be unveiled. The local officials informed that no causalities or injury was reported due to the strike. No one claimed any responsibility of the missile-attack yet.
The authorities in Antalya later released a formal statement about the attack. It said, “This morning at 10:20am, an explosion occurred in the town of Antalya, Turkey at Çalticak Fishing Shelter. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.”
Antalya is placed in the north of Cyprus and it is considered to be the gateway to the southern Mediterranean region of the country. Antalya is also the neighbouring town of the popular tourist destination Bodrum and Marmaris.
