According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the control tower of United Airlines at the Terminal C has suffered a power outage around 5 pm local time. Although the airlines authorities has restored the power briefly, but the control tower has again experienced a power failure. The authorities have later restored the power around 7 pm local time.
FAA has later informed that some kind of equipment problem has caused the delay of more than two hours. The airlines authorities have been forced to delay several flights and cancel six United Express flights.
According to the United Airlines, there have been no residual delays.
One of the sources has informed that a backup generator has failed to work. Thus, the airlines authorities have not been able to move the flights from their places.
Some of the passengers have informed that their flight has been refuelled as it idled for so long in the airport.
United Airlines has later twitted about the situation, saying that the flights have been delayed “due to air traffic control conditions impacting our flight operations.”
