The overheated cars were suffocating hundreds of travellers boarding the train. Several people left the train after the doors opened but many passengers had to wait inside for over two hours without receiving any information about the incident.
Numerous passengers reported that it was ‘airless’ inside the train, and shared images on social media, complaining how stifling the situation became. Passengers did not receive any information for a long time and the delay in opening the doors created panic amongst some of the commuters. Many travellers got down from the train and walked along the track to the nearby station.
The officials informed that the Eurostar trains were held on tracks due to power outage around Paris Gare du Nord. The incident impacted all service around the station and caused long delays. Six trains travelling between London and Paris and in the opposite direction were cancelled because of the incident.
Eurostar authorities later apologised via tweeter and stated that they are investigating the issue.
The Authorities also informed that ES9053, ES9055, ES9059 and ES9063 were cancelled.
Passengers on the ES9151 were moved off near Saint Denis, so that they could return to Paris. The Eurostar staff members at Gare du Nord helped the passengers to provide accommodation to the passengers, who needed it.
