Prince William, Kate and Prince George Voted Most Popular In-Flight Companions

WTM LondonThe Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and baby Prince George have been voted the most popular parent and baby combo to sit next to on a flight.

In an exclusive survey of more than 1,000 Brits, World Travel Market 2013, which takes place in London this week, asked which famous mum and baby and dad and baby pairing they would most like to see taking up the seat next to them. When it came to mums, nearly half of all respondents – 46% – say they would most like to be whiling away a flight next to Kate and Prince George. And while it remains unclear whether baby George or a touch of Royal magic is the main attraction, Prince William won the dad division with 39% of the vote.

Meanwhile, another celebrity couple have taken second place in both sides of the debate, although this time the dad proved far more popular than the mum. More than a quarter – 26% – say they would be happy to chat about goals, tattoos and living in LA with David Beckham with Harper bouncing on his knee. However, only 10% of respondents said they would be pleased to see his wife Victoria leading Harper down the aisle towards them, although this was still enough to put her in second place.

As far as other celebrity mums are concerned the pop theme remains tops with 10% voting for Beyonce Knowles and Blue Ivy, putting them in join second place, and 8% voting for Alesha Dixon and her baby Azura Sienna, born last month. In fourth place came royalty of a much different sort from ours – reality TV princess Kim Kardashian with little North West who won 2% of the vote.

The remaining top five in the dad’s division is equally pop-focused with Simon Cowell and his yet-to-be-born baby coming joint third with Jay Z and Blue Ivy on 5% each. Fifth place was taken by Kanye West and his son North, although whether it was simply gold diggers voting for him cannot be clarified.

Reed Travel Exhibitions, Exhibition Director, World Travel Market, Simon Press said: “Whether it’s our ongoing love affair with the Royal Family, the idea that they won’t trouble the stewardesses for too many drinks, Prince George or simply Kate’s stunning smile, the Duke and Duchess are the out and out winners of this poll. What’s equally interesting is the number of pop stars that made the top five on both sides of the sexes which would come in handy if the in-flight entertainment broke down. We’re also unsure as to whether people want to sit next to Simon Cowell because of his personality or because it will most likely mean they’ll have been moved to first class to do so.”
