Wat Chalong in Phuket
Wats or Buddhist temples are among the most significant symbols of Thailand, probably because majority of the Thais are Buddhist. These temples have the best architectural touches which could be another reason for their prominence in the city’s culture. . In Phuket alone, there are 29 Buddhist temples spread around the island.
Wat Chalong has been offering an amiable welcome to the visitors for over a century. Locals come to pray and foreigners to know more about Buddhism. The temple is open from seven in the morning till five in the afternoon.
Phuket Big Buddha
One of the island’s most important and venerated landmarks, Phuket’s Big Buddha sits on top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata and at 45 metres high due to which it could be easily seen from miles away.

Phuket Vegeterian Festival
This festival celebrates the Chinese community’s belief that abstinence from meat and various stimulants during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar will help in gaining good health and peace of mind. It is a colourful event held over a nine- day period in October.
Though the origin of the festival is unclear, it is believed that the festival came to Phuket through a wandering Chinese opera group who fell ill with malaria while performing on the island.
Island’s biggest show, Phuket FantaSea features trapeze artists, a cast of hundreds, performing elephants and other animals and an exotic storyline that blends tradition with fantasy. one can have a wonderful evening out here. But the extravaganza doesn’t stop here as FantaSea also hosts one of the biggest buffets in Asia and is set in a theme park that offers carnival-like games, lots of shopping opportunities, a Palace of the Elephants, a Similan Adventure Centre along with several other food outlets.
