Carla Campos, the executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Co. (PRTC), declared plans about the growth of the American Airlines route between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Dallas, Texas from December 18, 2019, adding a second frequency every day.
With this flight besides the two destinations, which will function at night on an Airbus 321 aircraft with 187 seats, with capacity of available seats from Dallas is doubled. On the same route, American Airlines has a daily frequency which operates on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 160 passengers.
“From the Tourism Co. we have worked aggressively with the team from American Airlines to increase the airline’s services in Puerto Rico. As a result of these negotiations, which have been carried out by our partners in Aerostar, the destination has 68,255 more seats per year that generates an impact of approximately $34 million on the economy of the Island,” Campos said.
The new air service is part of the development that American Airlines is doing in Dallas to the Caribbean, which comprises a new service for the U.S. Virgin Islands and for St. Kitts, among other destinations.
“The development of air access to Puerto Rico has been a priority in our management, and the constant growth that we have been reporting is evidence that commercial efforts are paying off and that tourism performance on the island is growing,” Campos added.
