Anmol Nidhi: We are privileged to be present at WTM London this year. We are very happy to see that India is a premium partner this year. The footfall is in large number.
Let me introduce you to the state of Punjab. Punjab is a colourful state which has different types of tourism like eco tourism, village tourism, farm tourism, heritage tourism, etc. Punjab is very famous for its rich culture, cuisine and everything. We are focusing more on our products now. First of all we have Farm Tourism, which is one of our very unique product and people are really loving it very much. We had tourist arrivals from Europe this year and the footfall has increased. We have nearly 22-25 farmhouses registered with us all across Punjab. We have farmhouses near Chandigarh, Hossiarpur, Gurdaspur and Patiala as well. We are focusing more on rural tourism. Here tourists can have the experience of rural culture, Punjabi cuisine. The different far5mhouses have different concepts , like bullock cart ride, horse cart ride, visit to mango orchards, orange orchards, rural village work, pottery, etc. The foreign tourists are absolutely loving it.
The other unique part of Punjab Tourism is Anandpur Sahib. It is situated in the northern part of Punjab. It takes six hours from Delhi. It is a spectacular monument and people have started calling it the 8th wonder of the world. It contains the complete history and culture of Sikh religion.
The other most important destination that we have is Amritsar. It is the most famous and important destination of Punjab. 70% of tourists who come to Punjab, they come just because of Amritsar and we are promoting it extensively. In Amritsar we have the Golden Temple, border, Amritsar heritage walk, we have recently opened the war museum, Partition museum. There are also so many new things coming up in Amritsar. As a result of this we are expecting a large number of tourists visiting Amritsar this year.
