The Barceló Bávaro Palace Deluxe hotel will host the Caribbean Tourism Energy Forum (CTEF) on December 10 and 11, the first event focused entirely on lowering the energy bill for the region’s hospitality industry. The CTEF will feature several world tourism industry leaders who will seek to implement for renewable energy and savings programs in the region.
The organizers said, “There’s no greater threat to the Caribbean tourism’s competitiveness than the price of energy, with rates that reach around 50 cents per kwh in some markets, its impact on profitability is huge. The hospitality industry has assumed the challenge of saving and generating energy.”
That’s the push behind CREF, organized each year by New Energy Events, aimed at providing the tourism sector access to leading global suppliers of technology, capital and proficiency in the area.
