Golfers in Germany, Denmark, Norway and Finland – and potential golf holidaymakers for the island of Ireland – are set to read all about our world-class golf, following a visit by leading golf writers from those countries.
The journalists – who were here as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism NI – have a combined audience of around 692,000 readers. In Donegal, they tested their skills on the Sandy Hills course at Rosapenna, on both the Old Links and the Glashedy Links at Ballyliffin and at Portsalon. Then it was on to Royal Portrush, where they played the Dunluce Course, next year’s venue for The 148th Open. They also played at Carton House.
Tourism Ireland is taking every opportunity to highlight our world-class golf and the fact that The Open is returning to Royal Portrush in 2019 – providing a superb platform to shine a spotlight on our golf around the world.
Finola O’Mahony, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Europe, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influential golf writers to visit. We have an extensive programme of promotions under way, to highlight our world-class golf and encourage more people to consider a golfing holiday on the island of Ireland. Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market and we are working hard to drive home the message that a golfing holiday is about much more than a round of 18 holes – the combination of our world-class courses and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers.”
