Put on your dancing shoes for the Big Dance Festival taking place across London.
Led by the Mayor of London, People Dancing and the Big Dance Hubs (a network of leading dance organisations across London), the Big Dance festival is a biennial celebration of dance which encourages people of all ages and abilities to come together and join in a series of events and activities.
The festival kicked off on May 20 with the Big Dance Pledge, the largest simultaneous dance performance in the world.
This event is followed by live performances from London’s top West End musicals for free in Trafalgar Square on June 18 and 19.
The highlight of the festival is the Big Dance Week, taking place from July 2 to 10. The week features a variety of special projects and activities, including Big Dance in Trafalgar Square on July 2, a major dance commission by one of the most innovative choreographers in the world, Akram Khan.
