The Pyrenean Tourism Confederation invested 15 million Euros this season marking its 100th anniversary. The organisation represents 38 ski resorts and 16 thermal baths and hydrotherapy centers in the French Pyrenees. It will offer 500 snow-related activities.
2017 was relatively the best season of all times for most resorts associated with Pyrenean Tourism Confederation. In 2017, the organization reported 5 million ski sessions, which was a 9.4 per cent increase from the previous year.
The goal of the Confederation is to diversify and increase the number of skiers. About ten per cent skiers were European while rest of them were Spanish.
As per the Confederation, tourist expenses related to snow activities during last season were 827 million euros.
Established in 1918, Pyrenean Tourism Confederation will celebrate its 100th anniversary. It is the largest association in the Pyrenees having 3 notable summits, as well as 4 ski centers approved with a quality seal.
Last year, they made an investment of 23.2 million euros for modernization of several facilities in different ski areas, so that they can be more eco-friendly.
There is another project underway – ‘Tourmalet 360’, a plan to remodel and increase the ski area in the coming months.
The Confederation is hopeful that the planned investments will strengthen the destination and increase bookings over last year.
