Since June 5, Qatar has been accused of backing extremist groups of ties to Shiite Iran, in the region’s worst diplomatic crisis in the year.
Riyadh on July 20 imposed restrictions on their entry into the kingdom for the pilgrimage on Qataris intending to perform haj this year.
As stated by the Saudi haj ministry that the Qatari pilgrims arriving via plane should comply with the rules of Riyadh. A visa will be required on arrival in Jeddah or Medina, the point of entry into the kingdom.
The Qatari Islamic affairs ministry complained that Saudi has refused to provide support regarding the safety of the haj pilgrims. The intertwining politics with one of the pillars of Islam may deprive many Muslims from performing their holy duty.
There are distortions in facts that will act as obstacles for the pilgrims from Qatar to Mecca. 20, 000 Qatari citizen registered to take part in haj this year but the ministry denied Saudi claims that Doha had suspended those registrations.
Saudi Arabia along with its allies Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates has cut diplomatic ties and imposed sanctions on Doha in June.
There is a closure of their airspace to Qatari airlines. Qatar accuses the Saudi-led bloc of imposing a “siege” on the tiny emirate.
