Both the airlines will benefit through the deal by strengthening cooperation as Qatar Airways acquired five per cent of China Southern Airlines in December.
China Southern Airlines’ passengers will now be able to book on the Qatar Airways’ flights between Guangzhou and Doha and Beijing and Doha allowing one stop connections to more than 80 destinations in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker mentioned that in December 2018 when they had announced about their investment in China Southern Airlines, he was aware of the significant potential for cooperation between our two prestigious airlines.
The agreement will help in leveraging their complementary strengths and resources that will further benefit both the airlines.
This will help in further deepening of the working relationship between the two airlines and enhance the travel opportunities for passengers across the globe. In 2003 the Qatar Airways first began flying to China with a service to Doha to Shanghai.
Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu and Hong Kong and are the seven Greater China gateways the carrier is currently operating.
