New codeshares on LATAM’s routes between Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos Airport and 25 domestic cities across Brazil including Rio de Janeiro (GIG), Salvador (SSA), Campo Grande (CGR), Foz do Iguacu (IGU) and Recife (REC) will have now be available.
Qatar Airways started flying to Brazil in 2010 with a service from Doha, Qatar, to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and onwards to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Within a span of seven years, the award-winning airline has created a foothold in the region.
There was a recent announcement that Qatar Airways will commence a new service to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2018.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker mentioned that the agreement will lead to strengthening of ties between Brazil and Qatar. There has been a surge in demand between South America to Qatar and beyond. The new codeshare destination will provide services to the valued passengers in Doha to other global destinations. More than half of the LATAM’s domestic destinations in Brazil can now have access on Qatar Airways.
There are 44 destinations throughout Brazil being served by part of LATAM Airlines Group and a fellow oneworld member, LATAM Airlines Brazil.
There are 25 domestic airports from its hub in Sao Paulo Guarulhos Airport (GRU) that provide seamless connections for Qatar Airways passengers traveling from Doha.
The customers of both airlines are ensured recognition of their frequent-flyer status as oneworld alliance partners.
They can have access to lounges worldwide, through check-in, extra baggage allowance, plus accrual and redemption of miles, priority check-in and boarding across the carriers’ networks.
Qatar recently added Dublin, Republic of Ireland and Skopje to its global network, that will be followed by Prague, Czech Republic; Sohar, the Sultanate of Oman; and Kyiv, Ukraine.
