Yesterday, Qatar Duty Free (QDF) opened its third and latest 119sq m gold shop in the Grand Hall at Hamad International Airport in Doha, which it describes as its ‘most exciting and luxurious yet’. It has also announced a new set of visa rules for opening the country up to more tourists.
QDF said that the new gold shop now offers in excess of 15,000 reference pieces combining both traditional and modern jewellery, and are ’made from the finest gold and diamonds’.
This range will now enable QDF to offer passengers a wider variety of gold and diamonds, from pieces made from 9ct to 24ct in both yellow and white gold, along with diamonds and precious stone-studded jewellery.
Much different from the normal practice at gold shops where the main product focus is usually on ready-made jewellery, this new retail offer will also include single gemstones and loose diamonds, offering customers wider varieties and options.
Qatar Duty Free said that this new store design comprises an ‘H’ shape configuration which is also the largest of all QDF’s three gold stores now operating at Hamad International Airport. QDF’s five-star customer service includes ‘expert bilingual staff’ on hand 24 hours a day and seven days a week offering the best service possible to passengers and visitors dropping in the store.
Commenting on the new retail expansion, Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President Luis Gasset said, “We are delighted with the opening of our third Gold store at Hamad International Airport, offering the finest jewellery to our passengers, with outstanding quality and value. The newly opened store, which is the biggest of all three, not only gives passengers more choice, but its increased presence in the airport makes it easier than ever to access one of our stores to buy something to remember. Whether passengers are looking for a special gift, or simply a timeless piece to add to their own jewellery collection, our staff will cater to their exact needs, and they will have a high-end experience from beginning to end. The opening is an example of QDF’s continuous efforts in enhancing our passengers’ overall experience and providing them with a memorable five-star experience at our award-winning airport.”
Hamad Airport was also ranked the ‘Sixth Best Airport in the World’ by the 2017 Skytrax World Airport Awards earlier this year.
