Quake hits Tajik mountains, no casualty

JAPANQUAKE_26_10_2013An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale hit a sparsely populated region in Tajikistan on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, rattling buildings in nearby nations.

 

The quake’s epicenter was 109 kilometers (68 miles) west of the remote mountainous region of Murghob.

 

It struck at a depth of 26 kilometers and was so intense that buildings as far away as New Delhi and Islamabad rumbled, witnesses said.

 

There were no immediate reports of damage Tajikistan is in central Asia bordering Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
