Starting on Friday, April 29, 2016, and for approximately two months, the two “Uptown” exit lanes at the Manhattan plaza of the Queens Midtown Tunnel will be closed for the first of several stages of plaza roadway rehabilitation.
Customers seeking an Uptown Manhattan route should use the two open Crosstown lanes. The two Downtown exit lanes will also remain open during this period.
The work includes asphalt replacement, rehabilitation of pavement joints, and concrete and masonry repairs. Demolition work will take place during daytime hours, and will comply with the New York City Noise Code. Rehabilitation of the Crosstown plaza lanes will follow the current work, and Downtown plaza lane repairs will comprise the final stages, with each stage lasting about two months. There are six lanes in the Manhattan exit plaza of the tunnel.
Drivers should expect some delays and plan accordingly.
