As part of Tourism and Events Queensland’s (TEQ) Queensland on Tour roadshow, several Queensland tourism operators travelled across Continental Europe to sell the State’s unrivalled holiday experiences.
The delegation met with more than 300 key international tourism trade partners in Germany, Italy and Switzerland in a bid to inspire more Europeans to visit Queensland.
TEQ Chief Executive Officer, Leanne Coddington, said the week-long roadshow enabled Queensland businesses to showcase their product first-hand to travel agents, product managers, wholesalers, airlines, trade media and front line reservation staff.
“Queensland on Tour Europe is a chance to raise the profile of Queensland’s experience offering to the travel industry in Continental Europe,” Coddington said.
“The travelling delegation includes tour operators, accommodation providers, island resorts and a number of Queensland’s Regional Tourism Organisations.
Coddington said the most recent international visitation results for Europe, including the UK, had risen over the past year.
“Queensland welcomed almost 527,000 visitors from Europe and the UK in the year ending September 2016, an increase of two per cent,” Ms Coddington said.
TEQ was also running two additional trade events in the United Kingdom and Nordic regions on the back of Queensland on Tour Europe 2017.
