The Whitsunday’s Airlie Beach, Noosa on the Sunshine Coast and Rockhampton in the Southern Great Barrier Reef will feature in the week-long Today tour with live outside broadcasts in the middle of the spectacular Queensland winter.
Tourism and Events Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Leanne Coddington, said it was perfect timing for the show to visit the state.
“It’s great for Queensland to host our own Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and the Today team in Queensland, showcasing the many amazing and unique experiences,” Ms Coddington said.
“As the southern states brace for winter, Queensland is the perfect place to see where Australia shines. Now is a great time to travel to Queensland and experience our unique destinations, world class experiences and enviable, year-round climate.”
The Today Show will also visit Noosa and Rockhampton as part of the three-day Queensland leg of the tour, including a special report from entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins with Australia’s Eurovision runner-up Dami Im when she returns to her former school in Logan.
Stefanovic said: “These We Love Australia trips are the best part about my job. Where else would you get to visit five different towns across our amazing country in a week, enjoying all the local hospitality along the way?”
Wilkinson said: “We love getting the Today team together and heading out to explore all the great destinations Australia has to offer. But this particular We Love Australia week is going to be hard to beat, with three days in the stunning Queensland warmth and two days in Aussie wine country. Karl and I still aren’t sure why the boss said yes to this, but the tickets are booked and we can’t wait.”
