Due to the promotion of the tourists promoted by Carlos Joaquín, Governor of the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico last year, the state received 15 awards, along with Riviera Maya as the Best Mexican Destination by “Food and Travel” magazine in the Reader Awards, Scuba Diving Scuba Choice Awards to Cozumel as Best Diving Destination and Best Promotion Campaign of the Year with Expedia partners, among others.

To endorse thewhole state and its various destinations like Riviera Maya, Cancun, Cozumel, Holbox, Bacalar, etc., the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo was set up by the government of Carlos Joaquín, which took part this year in 35 international fairs with a mission to draw more tourists and financial benefits that churn out better quality employment opportunities for the people of Quintana Roo.

Developed in January 2018 by a declaration proposed by Governor Carlos Joaquín, the Tourist Promotion Council is a decentralized body to endorse the 11 main destinations of the Mexican Caribbean like Holbox, Isla Mujeres, Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Cozumel, Riviera Maya, Tulum , Maya Ka an, Bacalar, Mahahual and Chetumal.

“Among the promotional activities, a strategic plan was designed for each and every single one of the destinations and segments, so during the international fairs, tourists are encouraged to generate more spending at each destination (depending on the type of travel experience they are seeking), as well as a longer stay, repetitiveness, and more tourists arrive in Quintana Roo, “explained Darío Flota Ocampo, general director of the council.
