Quito has recently won a competitive bidding process to organize the forum for Routes Americas air service development opportunity. Top airlines, various tourism authorities and airports are brought under one roof by Routes Americas to talk about North and South Americas air services.
In 16th century, Quito was discovered in the ruins of an Andean Inca city. One of the most preserved monuments in South America, the Spanish colonial centre – was of the first World Cultural Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in 1978. It is also the highest and closest capital to the equator.
Due to its rich ecology, Ecuador is declared as one of only 17 ‘megadiverse’ countries in the world. Sheltering distinct plants and wildlife that have evolved in isolation, the Galapagos Islands lie around 1,000 km off the coast of Ecuador and can be reached by a two-hour flight from Quito.
Cotopaxi, located south of Quito is Ecuador’s most visited national park. Also, highest active volcanoes in the world are found in Cotopaxi and are famous among climbers.
Ecological reserves surround the volcano of this place. It is home to animals like cougars, llamas, Andean fox, wolves, pumas, bears and wild horses.
