A fire in Beijing killed at least 12 and injured 4 when a fire engulfed a storehouse on Tuesday. Towards late evening the blaze spread over a 500 square metre area. Reportedly, 12 brigades and 54 fire engines were dispatched to put out the blaze. The incident took place in the Chaoyang district.
A total of 14 people were rescued from the incident site while the injured rushed to hospital. It took around 100 firefighters more than two hours to bring the fire under control.

The fire drew a quick response as Beijing is still on alert after a car rammed into pedestrians in Tiananmen Square in October, killing five people in what police said later was a terrorist attack.
