Raging fire in Beijing Killed 12

1537965_plane_DO NOT USE_A fire in Beijing killed at  least 12 and injured 4 when a fire engulfed a storehouse on Tuesday. Towards late evening the blaze spread over a 500 square metre area. Reportedly, 12 brigades and 54 fire engines were dispatched to put out the blaze. The incident took place in the Chaoyang district.


A total of 14 people were rescued from the incident site while the injured rushed to hospital. It took around 100 firefighters more than two hours to bring the fire under control.


It took around 100 firefighters more than two hours to bring the fire under control. A local newspaper reported that the warehouse was used for storing car parts, paper and other goods. Two owners of the premises have been detained by police for questioning, and an investigation is underway.


The fire drew a quick response as Beijing is still on alert after a car rammed into pedestrians in Tiananmen Square in October, killing five people in what police said later was a terrorist attack.
