The rail users of England are warned to expect disruptions to their journeys during Christmas times. There could be significant trouble ahead for those looking to travel to England’s busiest capital city London.
The engineering projects have led to many of Britain’s mainline routes being partially shut down and London Paddington will be closed completely.
The network rail will be carrying out a huge investment programme over the festive period and they have urged rail users heading to London to complete their journeys by December 23, 2017.
The Great Western Railway has told passengers that London Paddington will closed between Christmas Eve and December 27. As a result, Great Western Railway has said that travel to the station needs to be completed before it shuts for Christmas Period.
The Network Rail has said that 260 schemes will be completed by 32,600 workers.
The Chief Executive Mark Carne, has promised that journeys will be “transformed” after works have been completed. He also said that some routes are heavily affected and so we strongly advise passengers to plan ahead this Christmas.
The GWR know that the railway is up to 50% quieter than usual during the festive period so taking on and delivering these huge transformation schemes at this time of year minimises the impact on passengers.
