Teams from Arriva Trains Wales and the Railway RFC – made up of players from Network Rail and the wider industry – will play at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday 29 May.
Network Rail’s Adrian Suter, who plays for Railway RFC, said: “This event is a great opportunity for both the players, spectators and supporters from afar to really make a difference to a very important charity which impacts the lives of many hundreds of people around the country, whilst also enjoying a memorable evening.“
CLIC Sargent, Network Rail’s Charity of Choice, is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families, providing clinical, practical and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
The event will kick off at 4:30pm with the veterans warming up the crowd, before the first teams take to the field at 6pm. The match will be followed by a charity auction at the Cardiff Athletic clubhouse.
The Railway RFC, founded in 2009 by Route Managing Director for the Western Route, Patrick Hallgate, play every month, and hope to establish the fundraiser as an annual event.
Entry to the event is free, all donations are welcome.
Gates open at 4pm.
