Ramappa temple soon to become a Wi-Fi enabled tourist spot. This facility is one of the initiations of Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India’s digital India program. This program wishes to provide free Wi-Fi at every 100 tourism destinations all over India.
This facility comes as an opportunity for tech-savvy travelers and pilgrims visiting the temple in the coming days. In the last few years, Ramappa attracted somewhere between 25,000 and 30,000 tourists including the domestic and foreign visitors. Though the temple authorities installed 5-G Wi-Fi facility at the temple premises few weeks ago in coordination with the BSNL and the QuadGen Wireless Solutions, the temple governing body ensured full-fledged service from this Tuesday onward. In order to provide high speed data transfer, the BSNL laid an optical fibre cable (OFC) from Palampet village to the temple.
To quote CV Shankar Reddy, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India Assistant Director, ‘’ At the moment, we are providing a data of 200 MB a day free of cost to each user. Based on tourists’ response, we will enhance the bandwidth of the service.” Currently the data speed is 10MBPS and the users will have the capability of recharging once they surpass the free data.
