Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Adam Giles said crowd favourite The Angels, who now feature Dave Gleeson on vocals from The Screaming Jets, will head to the Territory for the first time since 2014.
“Red CentreNATS showcases the very best in street machines, elite show cars, hot rods, classics, exotics and supercars” he said.
“There’s something in the program to whet the appetite of every car enthusiast including precision driving, street cruising, show n’ shine, judged competitions and an official Burnout Masters Qualifier.
“The Angels will headline the action-packed Friday program which will first see the Official Red CentreNATS Street Parade rumble through the streets of Alice Springs before heading to Blatherskite Park.”
Once again, the Territory Government is giving entrants the unique opportunity to apply for Temporary Registration Permits from Thursday – Monday.
This will allow vehicles usually relegated to the trailer an opportunity to cruise the streets of Alice Springs using Red CentreNATS road cruise routes.
Chief Minister Adam Giles said Red CentreNATS has become an annual event that sits alongside iconic Territory events, including the CrownBet Darwin Triple Crown Supercars and Tatts Finke Desert Race.
“These events collectively bringing thousands of interstate visitors, especially motoring and racing enthusiasts to the Northern Territory each year,” he said.
“This means more money spent at local businesses and more job opportunities for Territorians.
“The Northern Territory Government was proud to support the Red CentreNATS in the inaugural year with an investment of $1 million.
“The inaugural event exceeded all expectations, attracting more than 450 entrants and 13,631 spectators.
“We are hoping to surpass these numbers and see Red CentreNATS grow into one of Australia’s largest automotive festivals.
Red CentreNATS Alice Springs will take place on Father’s Day weekend, Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th September 2016.
