The United Nations Agency is collaborating with Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) to provide regional workshop on marketing and sustainable destination management. Experts have been critically shortlisted by the UNWTO or the world tourism organization to attend the December workshop that starts from 5th to 9th in Saint Lucia.
The main issues that will be discussed here are quality assurance, competitiveness, and criteria for sustainable destinations with special importance on trends, success stories and best approaches for destinations worldwide.
To quote Bonita Morgan, the CTO’s director of resource mobilization and development, ‘We have the advantage of having the UNWTO bring to us expertise with international experiences, models and success stories as we expose the participants to what the possibilities are out there to help them develop a better product, or deliver a better service so their overall strategy for destination management and marketing can be successful’.
The main areas that would be discussed in the impending workshop are innovation in marketing trends, creating more sustainable tourism experiences and destination competitiveness. The first day would be opened for the stakeholders of Saint Lucia to provide them with maximum benefit and allowing locals to express their views and experiences.
The site visit has also been included in the schedule where participants can talk about local places and implement their experiences in improving tourism services and other products. All high-rung officials and executives’ national and local tourism organization, associations, tourism practitioners and industry groups from Caribbean and America are all welcomed in the workshop.
