Renaissance Paris Republique Hotel firmly established its spot in the Right Bank’s social scene with a star-studded debut event on June 16th that embraced the hotel’s location, the ’Bobo’Republique neighborhood, the Renaissance brand’s ‘Fearlessly Chic’ global design philosophy and ‘Business Unusual’ outlook catering to the Next Generation business traveler. The hotel debut brought together top talent from the worlds of fashion, music, art and design creating experiences to bring the hotel’s wild, elegant, and vibrant history and locale to life for the nearly 500 stylish guests.

As guests arrived at the iconic building, a former home for travelling artists, they witnessed one of Paris’ greatest urban art talents, Kouka, recreating his famed ‘Guerriers Bantus’ or ‘Bantu Warrior’ paintings on the windows of the hotel– reproducing what he created in 2011 on 77 of building’s distinctive windows. Moving through to the hotel’s impressive outdoor terrace, French street artist, J3 created a live street art installation, inspired by his celebrated installations gracing the walls of the Paris Metro.
The party was kicked-off in style by model, socialite and Chanel-muse Leigh Lezark as she and her New York creative collective The Misshapes took to the decks to mix house tracks with 70s French club classics. Daughter of infamous French photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Mahaut, then continued the wild, elegant and vibrant entertainment late into the night with an original vocal set.
While Parisian society sipped on specialty cocktails and indulged in canapés from the hotel’s restaurant, Origin, many stylish attendees accessorized with flower crowns, corsages and boutonnieres by Mademoiselle M, an homage to the Bobo spirit of the hotel’s neighborhood.
Behind the doors Renaissance Republique’s Penthouse Suite laid another discovery for guests; the suite had been transformed into renowned creative designer Marie Beltrami’s vision of a French boudoir, complete chocolates, champagne, lingerie, seven of Beltrami’s paintings and her ‘Erotic Bed Golden Head’. The art work will be on display in the hotel through to the end of June 2016.
“The debut of Renaissance Paris Republique brings to life the brand’s ‘Fearlessly Chic’ design philosophy while celebrating the vibrant spirit of the Republique neighborhood in Paris,” said Tina Edmundson, Marriott International’s Global Officer, Luxury and Lifestyle Brands. “The hotel was designed with the local community in mind, first and foremost, and the collection of tastemakers and local influencers gathered here this evening, is a true testament to the hotel’s new place within the fabric of Paris.”
Renaissance Paris Republique, the brand’s sixth property in the Paris portfolio, is ideal for experiencing the City of Lights’ newest ‘it’ district in style. Inspired by the bohemian soul of the Republique district, the hotel has been modelled by renowned interior designer Didier Gomez. Best known for his creations for Yves Saint Laurent, LVMH, De Beers, among others, his interiors give an overall contemporary feel with exotic woods and tawny leather contrasted with contemporary artwork in the guestrooms and public spaces. Gomez’s design, a generous melting pot fitting with today’s Paris, includes cross-cultural features including a sculpture from Africa in the lobby, furnishings from Asia in the guestrooms and local Parisian street art throughout. In his design, Gomez has brought the outside in with tree motifs in the guestrooms, cloud shaped ceiling lights and a specular vegetation wall in the hotel’s expansive outdoor terrace.
