Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel inaugurated 4th edition of ‘Vibrant Gujarat International Travel Mart’ (VGITM) organized by the Government of Gujarat and Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. (TCGL) in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar this evening.
While addressing the gathering in her inaugural speech she stated that Gujarat’s new tourism policy is getting unprecedented response which will bring the tourism of Gujarat in leading destinations. This year around 50 countries including USA, England, Canada, Australia, Italy, Japan etc and 20 states of the country are participating in this edition of International Travel Mart. Number of national and international buyers has also increased to 285 in this edition compared to 114 of 2011 International Travel Mart. Local sellers have also increased from 80 to 225.
Mrs. Patel stated that the state tourism sector has got the status of industry in recently announced state tourism policy and as a result around 50 investors have shown interest for investments Rs. 3,000 crore. She stated that the number of travellers coming to Gujarat has increased due to prevailing peace and harmony in the state.
CM also shared that how various festivals and fairs such as paragliding festival, Rannotsav, Saputara Monsoon festival, Navratri festival, Heritage festival, Bird Watcher conference, Tarnetar fair, Mango festival, Beach festival keep travellers coming to Gujarat.
Mrs. Patel said that we have trained as many as 600 guides with a view to provide proper guidance to the visitors arriving at various tourism places of Gujarat. The state government has also provided various training programmes to 4500 people willing to join hospitality sector. She stated with pride that the three-day Vibrant Gujarat International Travel Mart will witness new MOUs for the investment worth Rs. 1000 crore within upcoming five years by organizing around 4500 B2B meetings.
Finance, Power and Tourism Minister Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel said that under the competent leadership of the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi India is making efforts to promote tourism. Gujarat is becoming a popular tourism place not only for Indian tourists but also for the world-wide tourists under the capable leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel.
The Tourism Minister of Orissa Mr. Ashok Panda said that cultural, religious and geographical similarities are there between Gujarat and Orissa, with both states situated at coastal areas. The Secretary to Union Tourism department Mr. Vinod Zutsi said that various diversities are there in Gujarat. Gujarat is as incredible as India. India has provided e-tourist visa facilities to 130 countries. As a result the number of foreign tourists has increased. Medical tourism has also increased through e-medical visa. President of I.A.T.O. Mr. Subhash Goyal said that Gujarat is an important state in the incredible India and it is the best thing of Gujarat that Gujaratis are hard working and committed. The High Commissioner of Malawi to India Dr. Munlo invited Gujaratis for developing business-employment in Malawi. The Senior Vice President of FICCI Mr. Pankaj Patel said that the partnership between FICCI and Gujarat Tourism will be long lasting. The Principal Secretary to Industry and Tourism Department Mr. S. J. Haider briefed about several opportunities for development of tourism activities in Gujarat.
CM Mrs. Anandiben Patel and dignitaries also released a coffee table book named “Gujarat Tourism through the Land of Art and Craft” and a Tourism Roadmap prepared by Yes Bank, and launched Hello Innovation Gujarat Tourism Communication and distributed certificates of Tourism Guide.
On the occasion State Cabinet Ministers Mr. Babubhai Bokhiriya, Mrs. Vasuben Trivedi, Mr. Pradipsinh Jadeja, Mr. Rajnikant Patel, Mr. Jayesh Radadiya, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Vasanbhai Ahir, MP Mr. Parimal Nathwani, State IAS officers along with Chief Secretary Mr. G. R. Aloriya, Indian-Foreign Travel Agents, Office Bearers, people in huge number were present.
