It is reported that tourism generates 10% of the world’s gross domestic product, providing job to every one individual out of 10 and 30% of the world trade in service making it central to many countries’ economies and people’s livelihoods.
The number of tourists travelling across the globe was 1.2 billion in 2016 and the number is expected to reach upto 1.8 billion by 2030.
The United Nation’s World Tourism Organisation reveals that tourism was responsible for 5% of global carbon dioxide emissions. Around 20 % of emissions was from tourism that included energy demand, dining and leisure.
Taking into consideration the current travel trends, responsible tourism will be the official show theme for the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2018 that will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 22-25 April 2018.
