The route will connect Bern and London City with an early-morning flight Monday through Friday and a flight on Sunday. Starting August 31, 2015, SkyWork Airlines will cover this route on workdays both morning and evening, and once on Saturday and Sunday, provided official authorizations and airport slots are granted on time.
On the rotations from and to Bern, SkyWork Airlines puts in a short stopover at EuroAirport to take passengers on board from the triborder area of Germany, France and Switzerland. Thanks to the new type of aircraft used, the overall flight time changes only slightly from that of the Dornier 328 on the non-stop connection between Bern and London City. Finally, passengers coming from Bern enjoy a substantial time advantage over those traveling by car or train and then flying on from Zurich or Geneva. The short check-in times at Bern Airport also explain this time advantage.
The Bern-based carrier will use a Saab 2000 leased from Etihad Regional (Darwin) to service this route. During the day, this aircraft will cover heavily traveled destinations already in the timetable that are currently being serviced by the Dornier 328. With this approach, the products from Bern can be expanded and availability improved.
Swiss withdrew from EuroAirport Basel last weekend, so SkyWork Airlines is now stepping in to continue the tradition of a Swiss carrier connecting Basel and London City.
Business travellers have long wanted flights to LCY. This new service is therefore in response to their requests and to SkyWork Airlines aspirations to offer seamless convenience.
The times in the timetable to London Southend will be adjusted later to meet requirements.
