The shores of Batam in the Riau Islands will be abuzz with the launch of Nongsa Regatta to be held at the end of January 2016, at the peak of the North-east Monsoon. The exciting event is open to racing multihull boats, yachts, keelboats, stand up paddleboards, radio sailing, traditional sampan kolek and dinghies.
Hosted by Nongsa Port Marina and Resort, Batam, the Nongsa Regatta is expected to attract an estimated 500 participants from Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. The event hopes to attract a minimum of two dozen entries from each of those categories mentioned.
Opening and registration will be done at Nongsa Point Marina and Resort Batam on 23-27 January, competitions will take place on 28-30 January.
Apart from competitions, participants and attendees can enjoy a host of social events daily and engage in activities on the resort’s shores from the regatta’s opening ceremony to its closing event.
Nongsa Point Marina and Resort is a beach resort decorated with a touch of Mediterranean style landscape. Its strategic location brings shades of tranquillity among its marvellous tropical environment.
The resort offers a variety of facilities for a weekend getaway, including a golf course, spa, water sports and rental boats for fishing, snorkeling, diving or sailing around the islands in its vicinity.
