Rio TourismThe 2017 Carnival which took place few days back succeeded in attracting 1.1 million tourists and earned R$3 billion revenue. Besides, roughly 94 percent of the overseas tourists were surveyed at the time of the event. Many of them said that they would certainly return to Rio and over 91.9 percent said that they would recommend the city to their other friends.

At present, as per the recently released figures from the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH) and the Brazilian Travel Agents Association (ABAV), the hotel and travel package demand for the two biggest events of the year of Rio de Janerio, New Year’s Eve and Carnival, are showing sharp drop in comparison to 2016.

As per ABIH survey, hotel reservations for both the abovementioned events are down by 50 percent in comparison to the last year statistics. For ABAV, the situation even more miserable as the number of packages booked for New Year’s Eve and Carnival 2018 shows only a third in comparison to the figures of the last year.

The decrease in Rio travel packages is not quite understandable at this time as a whole. The datas are in symmetry with ABIH and ABAV, with Rio bookings decreasing by 56 percent in comparison to 2016.
