RIU HotelsRIU Hotels & Resorts proudly announces the ‘Travelife Gold Award’ certification of all its hotels located in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. After being audited, a total of 23 hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic were awarded the “Gold” certification, representing the highest level of compliance with the requirements established by the international Travelife sustainability certification scheme.

The certification of all the hotels in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, except for Riu Jalisco which is currently in the process of renovation, represents an enormous step forward in advancing towards the objectives of the Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, having the certification of its hotels as one of its priorities. Certified hotels are found in Spain, Cape Verde, Portugal, Morocco, Bulgaria, Mexico and in the Dominican Republic.

The Travelife scheme establishes social and environmental indicators, and tourism companies can access the Bronze, Silver or Gold certification according to their level of compliance. This tool allows travellers to select, from among the entire offer available, the hotels that are making an effort to carry out their operations in a responsible manner with regard to the environment and the community by showing their commitment in issues such as fair salaries or water and energy consumption reduction.
