Emergency services have stated that 27 people required hospital treatment for minor injuries.
The incident occurred when two roller coaster cars collided on Sunday on the Tren de la Mina at the theme park of Parque De Atracciones located in a theme park in Madrid. Carmen Camacho who is the spokeswoman for emergency services said that none of the injuries, however, seem to be very grave.
She also went on to add that the riders were all offered medical treatment especially for back, neck and stomach pains.
The injuries mainly comprised shock and bruising.
Some of the eye witnesses mentioned that a cart on the exit platform had been unable to stop and therefore skidded head-on into carriages that were filled with young children.
The representatives of the park told the Spanish news agency that the roller coaster had passed a safety inspection on Sunday morning. The park’s website states that the roller coaster riders of Tren de la Mina are permitted to wear virtual reality goggles that recreate a setting of Wild West.
The police have been summoned to detect the cause of the accident.
