Security will be beefed up in Rome starting from Dec. 8 with a ceremony at St. Peter’s Basilica. Rome has already received 400 extra police officers and 140 flak jackets for the Vatican’s imminent Holy Year, expected to bring huge crowds to churches in the Italian capital.
There will be a huge draw of pilgrims as the church is expecting about 33 million followers before it ends on Nov. 20, 2016.
