Vladimir Solnstev, the head of Energia said that the company would sell nine places on the Soyuz aircraft this spring season for the travellers who are eager to arrive at the International Space Station (ISS). This plan would comprise flying within the orbit of the moon, yet not landing on its surface.
He told the media that they were ready to sign an agreement with one of such companies in March 2017. The flight to the ISS has been scheduled to commence in the year 2021.
He went on to add that the flyby around the moon along with space tourists might occur within the next five or six years after the contract is signed.
Currently, the conditions for this type of trip are being discussed with the potential candidates, he asserted. The Russian space research has focused on the moon in a large number of projects recently. It has been planned that a rocket capable of helping tourists make this amazing trip would be constructed in 2025.
The Russian academics outside the aerospace community are also looking for a solution that would help the state academy of sciences to research on the options of utilizing the moon as a treasure trove of cultures.
