Russia opens tourism office in HanoiRussia is finding it hard to get a  strong hold on its tourism. The tourism board has opened an office in Hanoi that will cater both to the markets of Southeast Asia and South Korea. The country is hopeful that it will be able to draw a  sizable tourism population from this region.

The Visit Russia office is the eighth around the world, and its officials said their job is to introduce Asia’s tourism potential to Russians and vice versa. Russia was among Vietnam’s biggest tourist markets until last year when the ruble began to tumble.

Russian arrivals in 2015 were down 7 percent from the previous year to 338,843, with a significant increase after October failing to make up for months of decline. The market has fully recovered thanks to a visa policy introduced last year that allows Russians to stay in Vietnam for 15 days without a visa.

Vietnam received 108,750 Russians in the first quarter, 13.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
