Russian citizens will be given entry visa at any point on arrival in UAE in the near future. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, approved Cabinet Decree No 24 for 2017. This decree signifies that Russians will hereon be given an initial entry visa for 30 days. This can only be renewed only once for another 30 days stay.
As a result of this decree, strategic cooperation and common ambitions of the UAE and Russia will get a further impetus thereby creating new avenues for economic and tourist cooperation helping common interests and goals.
This will further strengthen international competitiveness of UAE showcasing it as a lively commercial and tourist hub as per Wam, the state news agency. In the last two years, UAE received 600,000 Russian tourists exchanging 56 flights in a week. This number will increase once the decree comes into effect.
To quote Elena Goncharova, a 37 year old Russian resident in the UAE, “More people can get an entry from Russia to the UAE even for a short break. It will also be much easier than before and will save budget too. This change was done due to good investment in UAE economy for the past few years.’’
