Ryanair, Europe’s No 1 airline, today (21 Jan) announced a new charity partnership with SOS Children’s Village UK, its nominated European charity partner for 2016. SOS Children’s Village cares for orphaned and abandoned children in 125 countries worldwide by providing them with a family, education and healthcare.
Over 80% of SOS Children’s Charity funding is raised through corporate and individual donations, and Ryanair will support this worthy cause through a number of fundraising initiatives over the next 12 months.
Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kenny Jacobs said:
“We are pleased to announce SOS Children’s Village UK as our nominated European charity partner for 2016 and we look forward to launching some exciting projects over the next 12 months to raise significant funding for this extremely worthy cause, which does so much invaluable work to help orphaned and abandoned children. Our customers will be able to support this partnership throughout the next year and we look forward to making a significant contribution over the next 12 months.”
SOS Children’s Villages UK CEO, Simon Etherington said:
“SOS Children’s Villages UK are delighted to be chosen as Ryanair’s European charity partner for 2016. I am excited about the journey upon which we and Ryanair are embarking. There is a very strong correlation between Ryanair’s footprint and our own activities in those countries, and this provides an excellent basis for working together on a number of exciting fundraising initiatives. Last year SOS Children’s Villages provided a loving family home for over 78,700 children and provided family strengthening support to 360,800 people worldwide. The funds raised by Ryanair’s staff and customers will further our work of ensuring that every child grows up in a family: loved, respected and protected.”
