Luckily, nobody has suffered any injuries as a consequence of this abrupt landing.
Certain roads leading to and from the airport had been shut down with an effort to prepare for the emergency landing. But, they have all reopened since this incident. The emergency services were already ready to rush to the service of the Ryanair flight.
The flight was already delayed by nearly 15 minutes this morning. But then it had no choice but turn back while it was still inside the airspace of Malta.
The aircraft was reported to have landed a while after 9 a.m. but some passengers are reported to be in a state of shock on account of the sudden landing of the plane. Some sources have stated that the airplane had circled around Gozo several times to waste its fuel supply prior to making a landing at Malta International Airport.
Presently no further information is available at this time.
Also, no reason has been stated for the Boeing 737 aircraft’s return. The flight to Bristol had left around 7.36 a.m. instead of 7.20 a.m. But then, once it was airborne it turned back while it was still in the airspace of Malta.
